"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." ~Hebrews 12:2

214 -- it is about giving....

Just a reminder from MYF last week....

* God gave us the incredible gift of His PRESENCE when Mary became pregnant with Jesus.

* The angels gave the shepherds the GOOD NEWS of the birth of Christ along with the incredible EXPRESSION of their praise.

* The Wise Men gave Jesus gifts that SYMBOLIZED His role as our King, our High Priest, and our Savior.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." ~Ephesians 4:29

I know that many of you have heard the news about the new principal at WCHS. I know this because I have read a lot of your Facebook statuses. It saddens me that many of you have not followed the 429 principle that we have talked about in MYF. Your words (written and spoken) have been unwholesome and have NOT built anyone up...in fact, they have torn down others. I just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone that even when situations in life don't go the way you have planned, it doesn't give us free reign to not follow God's Word.

I challenge you to ask the Holy Spirit to work in you and through you to be people who are loving, kind, and self-controlled. You can't live that way on your own....however, the Holy Spirit will produce these qualities in you.

206....the Holy Spirit

Why are we satisfied with a small portion of the resurrection power of Christ?
Why do we think we can fight through our sin issues on our own?
Why do we believe that we can handle life without having the Holy Spirit working powerfully in our lives?

God, help us not be satisfied with a battery-worth of Holy Spirit power. But help us live in the generator-worth of resurrection power!

Here is another example. We are tired of experiencing this much of the Holy Spirit...

We want to experience this much Holy Spirit....

200 -- Tonight's Topic is homosexuality

We are going to take time tonight to talk about how society views homosexuality, how the church views homosexuality, and how God views homosexuality. Here are some of the questions we will discuss:

Shouldn't we ignore Old Testament law because Jesus did away with those laws on the cross?

Hasn't science proven that people are born gay?

My friend says that if I really love him, then I would accept him as he is. Isn't God all about love and acceptance?

What is the gay-rights agenda anyway and why should I care about it?

Can someone be a Christian and still engage in homosexual behavior (or any sin for that matter)?

As followers of Jesus, we need to talk about this topic and take the time to think through and learn how we can be the salt and light of Jesus to a fallen world.

199 -- Morality of Sex

Tonight at MYF, we are discussing God's standards for sexual relationships, why God has these standards, and what it means for you.
